Beam me up Scotty!

So, Adam Scott has successfully defended his Singapore Open Title with a Birdie on the 18th hole at Serapong yesterday, after a painful decision from the officials to have a 3 hole playoff between Ernie Els and himself.

Heavy downpour on Day 4 with 2 hours of lost-time.

The skies were unkind for some golfers, having to stop play twice on Round 4 of Barclays Singapore Open yesterday. It definitely was a relief for others whose scores after the 3 rounds were better than their scores after they completed the 4th round. Amongst were local hero Mardan Mamat, and his good friend Lam CB.

Costly mistake for Ernie Els to have bogey-ed the 18th hole,
giving Adam Scott a 2-putt advantage, but Scott needed just 1 putt.

I think it's a curse for Ernie Els to hit a bogey on the 18th just like he did on Caltax Masters' 18th to take the position of only the 1st runner up. I wonder if he'd think thrice before coming the next time.

One thing's for sure, Adam Scott will be here again next year to defend his title!

Who else but Ernie Els! (round 2)

Busy updating the leaderboard...
(I'm the one behind from left)

Well, well, well. Ernie Els is finally on the Leader Board! And not only he's on it, he's on TOP of it! With a 6 under par, Els is co-leading with Scott Strange who had an excruciating back sprain throughout the 18 holes at Serapong today. What an ordeal for Strange. =(

It's exciting to be on the radio for the leader board scores. The morning started with quite 'boring' updates on the leader board. Not one of the heavy hitters were on the board... until at about 11:30am onwards, the heat was on. When I heard Ernie Els' name mentioned over the radio, everyone had an 'isn't it high-time' grins on our faces. It then started to make our job worth-while when we tagged up the three letters 'E-L-S' on the leader board.

And then, soon after, I yelled out YES like I've scored a birdie when I heard "we're having a new name on the board, Scott with a 4-under."

The view on the 18th hole was superb, I could see Els' fantastic second shot when he landed nicely on the green for a birdie chance. And he pleased all his fans with an easy putt for the birdie, which brought him to a 6-under for the tournament. Mardan finished with a 1-under.

After the crowd dispersed with Ernie Els' departure, another equally huge crowd followed Adam Scott's flight which came right after Ernie Els. Having some bad luck, Adam Scott's ball landed in the hazard, which he took a drop and bring his ball neatly on the apron of the green using his 3rd shot. Luck wasn't on his side still as he couldn't par that hole and settled for a bogey with a final score of 3-under par for the tournament.

Now that Round 2 is over, it'll be an exciting match tomorrow to watch how the leaders maintain their lead.

High Expections...

It's a terribly hot day and my skin was almost 2-toned when I came back home just now. Our leaderboard is a specially erected one this seaon in the Barclays Singapore Open. It's a floating 3-sided leaderboard floating on the pond at the juncture of Hole 9 and 18. It's actually quite cool!

Our volunteer T-shirts are yellow. I chose 'S' and it fits well. I noticed many of us wear white pants/bermudas, which we all look good with the yellow top. A Sports School 13-year old boy joined our team to the floating leaderboard. He kept calling me 'auntie'. -_-

As usual, I was in-charged of listening to the radio for scores updates. Not much moments today, and even a few dropped out of the leaderboard. Only Scott Strange and Juvic Pagunsan made it to 4-under-par.

I had high expectations for today's Round 1 of the game. However, it wasn't meeting my expectations. We had a good view at the 10th tee-box. Ernie Els' face was so red. His pants were wet torso down! And Adam Scott's shirt was drench throughout! It must have been the weather. Adam Scott, Ernie Els, Mardan Mamat, and all the 'hot' players were all over PAR! Well oh well, you know what they say, this is just the first round, and the players will probably learnt fast from their lessons with Round 2 onwards.

Barclay's RICH

Yay! I'm going to see Ernie Els live tomorrow @ Singapore Open! This time round it's a $3M prize money. Will Adam Scott hold on to his title? Will Mardan Marmat be pressurized? We'll be at the Main Leaderboard at Hole 5 Serapong Sentosa.

Smell the roses

I dedicate this blog to the sense of smell. We normally take things for granted. And one of the many things is the sense of smell.

It's surprising that how tasty food is to us is very much dependent on the sense of smell, instead of the sense of taste. Experiements have shown that once you disable your sense of smell and you blind fold yourself, you cannot differentiate coffee with tea!

Imagine when you can't enjoy the simple smell or taste, wouldn't that be a huge impact on your lives? What used to be a part of life could become a chore and a all-time low during the three meal times.

So the next time you smell the opening of a cork from a wine bottle, the freshly laid tar on the road, the pungent stench of rich blue cheese or the wiff of newly mowed lawn, pause for a while and count our blessings.
