Bloody brilliant!

I've just finished Dan Brown's Angels & Demons. I must say, WOW! Genius! Intriguing! Addictive! Mind-boggling! A must-read novel that triggers your mind to wonder the amazing things that is happening and has happened in this world. The brilliant ambigrams, the work of science, the cleverly plotted mystery of truths, lies, fact and fiction. What do you believe?

Angel and Demon

All things are connected. I'm reading Dan Brown's Angels and Demons. And suddenly, all things around me seemed to be revolving around this topic of belief and evidence, science and god, etc.

I read this interesting article. It comes to a full circle.

WC sucks

Okay, I realised that my Singapore Idol rants could not do the justice of my lingering thoughts. Bloody World Cup. There! I've said it!

Rants

I love reality shows for the simple reason that the reality doesn't come from the fabrication of the shows, but the reality comes from the reason things are fabricated in that manner. I believe that everything happens for a reason, and things will fall into space nicely as you look back at the happenings, you'll realise that it had to happen this way.

Let's take Singapore Idol as a topic of discussion. I'm a sucker for singing contest, I didn't miss any shows thus far. I was anticipating a good show every single time, however, to my surprise almost every show, I couldn't understand participants with non-qualified vocals and presentation actually survived through the Piano Show stage. Does this mean that there are very few good singers out there? or very few good singers who want to join the Idol journey? or the judges made a filtration mistake in seiving the good from the bad? or...

Talking about the judges, now do we need four of them? Dick definitely has character. His comments are candid, sometimes too corny (like his name). But definitely give a fun side of the judging mechanism to begin with. Next up is Flo. Sometimes her affirmation with Dick's could get boring with verbatim or paraphrasing the obvious. But other times, she just shows her estrogenic point of view, like she always used her favourite words - I'm a sucker for... (sounds familiar?). And I must say that Flo's got excellent pronounciation skills. Now Ja, Ja, Ja! She really reminds me of a friend. Hesitant in expressing her views, lost of words, not a good conversationist, lousy sense of humour. Well, it was difficult to be judge #3 as we have all seen the anti-climax from Douglas O last season. But being a great singer herself, she could provide more constructive criticism or comments focusing on the vocals and technicalities of the participants performance. Finally, my personal favourite - Ken. He definitely gives the realistic side of all things. His comments often project the pros and cons of how things has turned out, and how things is gonna be. He talks about potentiality, Idol quality, vocal techniques, improvements for the better.

I guess the whole show will probably survive with just having Ken as the judge, but that will be too serious a show. Adding Dick next to Ken will make the show more corny, but two heads are better than one won't fit the bill this time when the gay community is getting stronger than ever. Squeezing Flo in between making three's a crowd is still bearable, though Flo could have been hotter.

So well, I did said all things happened for a reason. Without the arrangement of the Idol judges, I wouldn't have so much things to say about it. Actually, I woke up today having a lot to say about the World Cup, but I guess I could vent on the same context using Singapore Idol as a scapegoat. Remember, all things happened for a reason!

World Cup Fever

Everybody's got the fever
That is something you should know
Fever isn't such a new thing
Fever started long ago

Is it a call for World Peace
Is it a boost to the Economy
Is it a flaunt to the Richer
Is it a kellong for the Poorer

What kind of phenomenon this is
To have such a great power
Congregation of thirty-two countries
Millions staying up till late hour

Embracing the journey
Rising to the occasion
Entering the gaming world
A celebration or a devastation

It's not such a sin
May the best men win
Germany, England, Italy or Brazil
Chill, thrill, go for the kill

High expectation, constipated frustration
Enough to cause a heart palpitation
Caffeine overdosed, mucous disposed
Schizophrenic lifestyle from the midnight occupation

Ronaldo, Zidanne, Beckham and more
Is this the dream team you've been watching out for?
Oh life is bigger than you and me
Hip hip hooray to Germany!
