Change is the only constant

Ha ha.. 19 days of hiatus, so many things had happened.

My maid Sannah finally came. She has taken up to speed with our household chores. And when I say 'up to speed', I really mean SPEED! She has probably done so many things that any other maid would categorise them as spring cleaning. I was worth the month-long wait for her. Now, I will relinquish my duties as the make-shift maid, to my old portfolio.

Speaking of portfolio, our new cabinet has just sworn in yesterday. My good-old Joo Chiat MP is officially out of the game. Mummy says "Is he back to civilian?" Well, in a way, yah. New term, new rules, new games, new faces, familiar faces, more promises and more spread of Skippy. In five years time, things will change drastically, looking at the GE 2006 results, opposition is coming on strongly. They lost partially to the ballot box voting system. Imagine what would happen if the voting system were to change to the Idol Phone voting system? Chances are, there'll be chaos. Just look at Taylor Hicks, he won the American Idol title when many knew that Chris Daughtry would have been the true American Idol in their hearts.

And speaking of Idols, Singapore Idol is on. I've just seen the elimination round last Sunday, and I must say that I'm not too hopeful that we'll be seeing another Taufik Batisah. Now, I think Taufik has what it takes to be an Idol. One who has originality, one who believes in himself and is willing to influence and inspire people to make this world a better place. (sounds like a song.) But seriously, being an icon takes beliefs, personality, leadership, etc to make it happen. And somehow I think that Singaporean are eating too much peanut butter sandwiches that we don't reinvent ourselves too much. But I'm not saying we're not 100%. I see, especially, the Generation Y youngsters actions and thoughts, they will be the ones who will be shaping the future Singapore, and come to think of it, it could be rather scary. Trust me, I teach Gen Y academically. But, I'm crossing my fingers, hoping for the best, praying for the worst.

Speaking of worse, my mum's cataract became worse this year, so we sent her for the cataract operation on the 22 May. Now, she's nursing her eye at home. Doctor Heng says she needs at least 3 weeks to recover her full vision of 6/6. My mum kept saying that her vision didn't improve. I'm worried. I'm worried that she didn't do a thorough check-up on her degree before the operation, and so now the synthetic lens that she has inside her eye is not of the right degree. Anyway, we'll wait for 3 more weeks for her thread removal to check her vision again. Maybe it's also because mummy's right eye is a lazy eye, so when she's totally dependent on her operated eye, it's extremely strenous to her brain before her brain could adapt to the new lens. *fingers crossing*

Speaking of adaptation, I think Brandy's still finding it hard to adapt to the new environment. He's been barking non-stop every other mid-night, and I reckon our neighbours knew about our new dog. It's Sleepless in Seattle. Just the other day, he ran out with Victory to the little park near the main road. This dog needs to be disciplined. I ever seen 2 dogs on the very same main road 10 years ago - one died with thick blood covering its body, the other whining desperately beside him. A sight that lingers in my mind till today. That's what I'm worried about Brandy.

Speaking about lingering thoughts, my phobia of lizards has been haunting me till today. Just yesterday, I saw a big fat grey lizard staring at me face to face as I opened my window curtain. I freaked out! I missed a step and fell down on my butt when I ran downstairs. I don't know it's my bloating of stomach or the phobia of lizards, I'm also not eating rice during dinner. The close encounter of 2 lizards in the rice cooker is enough to make me quit from cooking rice and eating rice.

Speaking about rice, there'll be 10,000 new jobs created for the IR industry. Las Vegas Sands won the Marina IR. So my Genting shares are still stagnent. There's still a chance of winning the Sentosa IR...
